Owners of the Bastrop 552 Project, a 546-acre film studio, are aiming to begin work by the end of this year. According to an Austin Business Journal report, when completed it could feature 486,000 square feet of studio space with six 20,000-square-foot studios and two 10,000-square foot sound stages. Additionally there would be 300,000 square feet for warehouse/mill space and 200k for office space. If all goes according to plan construction on the first phase should start in Q4 2023 with completion expected by late 2024.
The applicants behind Line 204 Studios in Los Angeles have provided stages and equipment rentals for Netflix , Hulu , NFL as well as other major productions . An analysis prepared on behalf of them estimates that once operational this movie studio could generate $177 million annually while creating 1 443 permanent jobs paying out $64 million in household earnings over a ten year period .
