Bank of America has purchased a major portion of its long-standing Southside Boulevard operations center campus, closing on a $155 million acquisition from Ladder Capital of New York City. The banking company acquired five office buildings and two parking garages that it had previously been leasing at the campus.
The transaction covers approximately 820,000 square feet of space across Buildings 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 at the operations center located at 9000 Southside Blvd., north of The Avenues mall. These buildings have been part of Bank of America’s broader operational footprint in the area, and the company has already invested significantly in renovating the properties it has now acquired.
With the purchase, Bank of America transitions from tenant to owner for most of the campus’ buildings that support its operations. The company has been undertaking substantial upgrades at the site, focusing on the structures involved in the deal, although specific scopes and costs of the renovation program were not detailed in the available information.
The balance of the campus is structured under a different ownership and occupancy arrangement. As part of the same overall campus, Building 100 remains separately owned by Glenfield Capital of Atlanta. Bank of America did not acquire this building and will instead continue as a tenant there, leasing about 78,000 square feet across three floors. This ongoing lease maintains Bank of America’s presence throughout the full campus while differentiating between the components it owns and those it continues to rent.
The Southside campus functions as one of Bank of America’s major operations hubs, supporting more than 7,100 employees across a range of business lines. The site houses staff working in consumer banking, wealth management, operations, technology, and various staff and support functions. Its role within the company underscores the strategic importance of the location to Bank of America’s regional and national operations.
Beyond the campus itself, Bank of America remains the largest bank in metro Jacksonville, with 23 branches in the market. The combination of a sizable branch network and a large-scale operations center highlights the company’s entrenched position in the region’s financial services landscape.
