Bally’s Chicago is facing a setback in their plans for a new 400-room hotel tower at their permanent casino site. According to the Chicago Tribune, officials have discovered potential damage to water pipes during construction, prompting the need for relocation and revised design plans.
A spokesperson from Bally’s stated that an alternate plan has been submitted to the city in order to stay on track for their scheduled completion date of 2026. Originally, the company had planned for a 505,000-square-foot hotel tower on the north end of their $1.7 billion casino site.
However, due to unforeseen infrastructure issues, city officials are now reviewing a revised plan which calls for a smaller building with only 100 rooms and standing at just over seven stories tall near the south end of the site. Currently operating out of River North’s Medinah Temple building as its temporary location while awaiting completion of its permanent casino site.
