**Avondale Selects Developer Team to Build Entertainment Gateway Hub**
The city of Avondale has selected Blueprints Capital and Whitten Development to lead the construction of a new 16-acre entertainment district on city-owned land. Designed to serve as a gateway into Avondale, the project is expected to feature restaurants, retail offerings, and other attractions aimed at creating a vibrant and engaging destination.
The project will be a core component of Avondale’s planned downtown district known as “The BLVD,” a 356-acre mixed-use development. The BLVD is poised to include an array of amenities such as hotels, multifamily residential communities, and prominent sports-oriented facilities. Among these is the American Sports Centers complex, one of Arizona’s largest indoor multisport venues, which regularly hosts basketball, volleyball, and soccer tournaments. Phoenix Raceway, another major regional attraction, will also be part of the broader district.
More than 2,000 multifamily housing units are currently located within walking distance of The BLVD, positioning the area as a key destination for residents and visitors alike.
Avondale is part of a growing trend in the West Valley, as neighboring cities including Goodyear and Surprise are also actively developing new downtown districts in partnership with local developers. These large-scale urban plans aim to add hundreds of acres of commercial, residential, and recreational spaces to meet the growing demand for walkable, mixed-use environments in the region.
