Avondale Green-Lights Medical, Housing, and Retail Project

Avondale, a rapidly growing West Valley town, recently approved a large-scale commercial development project called The District at Crystal Springs. Located at the southwest corner of McDowell Road and Avondale Boulevard, this mixed-use development will include 268 townhomes on 23 acres; 216 units of multifamily housing for adults 55 years and older on 6 acres; 7 acres dedicated to retail or hotel space; and 8 acres allocated to building an Encompass Health hospital within the city’s designated health-technology corridor. Fifield & Sparrow Partners are leading the development effort with support from Encompass Health. Last month, after receiving approval from Avondale’s Planning Commission, City Council rezoned the property as part of a new planned area development for this project.
