### AvalonBay Plans Major Residential Development Near Microsoft HQ
AvalonBay Communities is planning a 30-acre residential development with over 2,000 apartments adjacent to Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
The project, named Avalon Redmond Tech Station (ARTS), could feature up to 2,500 apartment units spread across five parcels, according to the *Puget Sound Business Journal*. ARTS has already begun transforming AvalonBay’s older Eaves complex from the 1980s, replacing part of it with the 214-unit Avalon Redmond Campus.
Designed by Seattle-based firm CollinsWoerman, the development at 156th Avenue NE and Northeast 40th Street will include apartment buildings reaching up to 16 stories tall. This initiative aligns with Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to renovate and modernize its headquarters.
ARTS will be developed in five major phases, featuring a 1.3-acre central open space as a focal point for the community.
