A popular mixed-use project in downtown Austin, known as Block 21, is set to undergo $40 million worth of upgrades. The project, which includes the ACL Live at the Moody Theater and W Austin Hotel & Residences, will see improvements made by Opry Entertainment Group – a subsidiary of Ryman Hospitality Properties. These renovations will include updates to the W Austin entrance and other public spaces on site such as its coffee shop, restaurant and bars. Additionally, over 200 guest rooms at the hotel are scheduled for renovation with completion expected in fall 2024. Despite these changes taking place, both W Austin and ACL Live will remain open during this time.
This significant investment follows Opry Entertainment Group’s acquisition of Block 21 for $260 million in late May 2022. With this revamp underway under new ownership from Nashville-based group Ryman Hospitality Properties , it is clear that exciting developments are on the horizon for this bustling area of downtown Austin.
