**Austin-Area Surf Park Showing Signs of Life**

The Pura Vida development, once heralded as the “biggest surf park development on the planet,” is showing renewed momentum after a period of quiet following its highly publicized introduction two years ago.

Despite the initial hype waning, recent public filings suggest that the project is still very much alive. Over the past few years, developers behind Pura Vida have acquired more than 200 acres of land and are actively working with local and state government entities to secure the necessary permits and incentives, with a primary focus on obtaining water usage permits.

At the heart of the project is a proposed 12-acre surf park, which would anchor a larger $1.3 billion master-planned community. This community is expected to span 400 acres and include residential neighborhoods, dining establishments, retail outlets, and hotel accommodations.

Pura Vida is planned for Mustang Ridge, a small town of just over 1,000 residents located near Austin, Texas. If realized, the development could significantly transform the area into a major lifestyle and leisure destination.
