A former Ramada Plaza hotel in Atlanta’s Summerhill neighborhood is set to be transformed into senior housing. The 3.25-acre property, located across from Georgia State University’s Convocation Center, will feature 231 apartments for residents aged 55 and older.
According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the lobby of the hotel will be repurposed as a hub of amenities for potential tenants including a movie theater, fitness center, business center and library. This prime location offers easy access to nearby restaurants and shops as well as a Publix grocery store on Georgia Avenue. Additionally, construction is currently underway on MARTA’s Summerhill bus rapid transit line with plans for a stop near the hotel site.
Pending approval from its board of commissioners and the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Atlanta Housing intends to purchase this property from current owner Pellerin Real Estate Partners for $17.5 million.
