"Atlanta-Area Office Park Set to Undergo Renovation, Led by Portman"

Portman Holdings is seeking to transform an Alpharetta office park into a mixed-use development. The company has submitted plans to the state and city of Alpharetta, requesting permission to rezone approximately 20 acres of the Brookside office campus located near the Avalon development on Old Milton Parkway. This property currently includes two 5-story office buildings known as Brookside I and II.

The proposed redevelopment would include over 300 apartments, numerous townhomes, and retail space. However, one of the existing office buildings (approximately 130,000 square feet) would be retained in this project.

According to reports from the Atlanta Business Chronicle , Portman has entered into a contract for this property. The project will go before both the planning commission and city council in April 2025 for rezoning approval. If approved, construction could begin as early as summer 2026.

Portman’s plans are part of a larger trend among developers seeking ways to revitalize outdated office properties throughout metro Atlanta.
