"Atlanta-Area Office Park Set to Undergo Renovation, Led by Portman"

Portman Holdings has proposed a transformation of an Alpharetta office park into a mixed-use development. The company is seeking approval from the town to rezone approximately 20 acres of the Brookside office campus, located near the popular Avalon development along Old Milton Parkway. This property currently includes two 5-story office buildings known as Brookside I and II.

According to plans submitted to both state and city officials in Alpharetta, Portman’s vision for this site includes over 300 apartments, numerous townhomes, and retail space. However, one of the existing office buildings (approximately 130,000 square feet) will be retained as part of this redevelopment project.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle has reported that Portman currently has this property under contract. The company’s proposal is scheduled to go before both the planning commission and city council in April 2025 for rezoning approval. If successful in obtaining these approvals, construction on this redevelopment could begin as early as summer 2026.

Portman would join many other developers who are also exploring ways to revitalize outdated office properties throughout Atlanta’s metro area.
