Arlington City Council Approves $3.8M Grant for Mixed-Use Development
The Arlington City Council has approved a $3.8 million grant to support the development of Arlington Center Square, a new mixed-use lifestyle center. The grant will assist in assembling land for the project, which is set to include a variety of features such as a food hall, retail and restaurant space, multifamily housing, and structured parking. A hotel is already under construction on the site.
The development is being led by Mahrouq Enterprises International Inc., which currently owns the land where a $54 million, 145-key upscale hotel is being built on Division Street.
According to the terms of the agreement, the developer must meet several milestones: deliver a conceptual project brief with a site plan, feasibility analysis, and renderings within 18 months of signing; initiate construction drawings within 36 months; secure project financing within 54 months; and commence vertical construction within 60 months.
As part of the project, the City of Arlington will also establish a long-term lease agreement for parking on the property. If the project moves forward, the developer will have the option to purchase the leasehold interest in the parking facility.
This major investment signals Arlington’s continued commitment to revitalizing and expanding its entertainment and commercial districts.
