ARCO National Construction’s Pacific Coast division is currently working on a design-build project for Alpine Food Distributing, Inc. in Vernon. The project involves renovating a 116,766-square-foot cold storage facility to support the company’s growing business and improve operational efficiencies.
The renovated facility will feature over 40,000 square feet of freezer/cooler space with an additional 10,000 square feet of convertible space capable of accommodating temperatures ranging from -10°F to 40°F. It will also include a production cooler for produce processing and over 50,000 square feet of ambient storage. Alpine Foods plans to begin operations at the new facility by late-2024.
According to ARCO VP and operating partner Brian Westre: “As an experienced design-builder in the cold storage industry, we are seeing more companies like Alpine Foods turning towards retrofitting existing warehouse spaces.” This approach allows businesses to prioritize location and schedule in high-demand markets such as Southern California.
