The Raleigh City Council has recently approved a zoning request for developer Atlas Stark to construct a 20-story mixed-use residential project on Computer Drive, just inside the Beltline. The development will be situated on an assembled parcel of land totaling 17.89 acres, starting at the intersection of Six Forks Road and Computer Drive.
While the exact number of housing units has not been disclosed by Atlas Stark, it is expected to exceed 1,000 with a minimum requirement of 10% being designated as affordable units. According to reports from Triangle Business Journal, there are certain conditions attached to this approval including restrictions on specific uses and limitations on office space (500,000 square feet) and retail space (150,000 square feet).
Previously zoned for only three stories maximum height limit, the property also currently houses a State Employees’ Credit Union branch and office building which may or may not be involved in this venture.
Atlas Stark describes itself as a full-service commercial development company that specializes in asset acquisition/repositioning; ground-up development; adaptive reuse; leasing; and asset management through strong relationships with their clients. With this green light from the city council, the company is now set to move forward with its plans for over 1 ,000 apartment units in Raleigh.
