Veranda at Assembly, the newest residential phase of the master-planned development on the former General Motors plant site, was recently unveiled by The Integral Group. This 165-acre mixed-use development has already brought commercial, entertainment and employment opportunities to the region.
After GM’s closure in 2008, which resulted in a loss of 4,500 jobs, the Assembly site remained vacant. However, in 2014 Integral partnered with Consolidated Asset Management Services and Macauley Schmit & Associates to acquire it for $50 million. Since then they have overseen demolition efforts that removed four million square feet of buildings and conducted remediation work.
Integral has also recently completed a project consisting of 100 senior-specific residential units designed to address affordable housing needs. Located at 5955 Peachtree Road and costing $45 million dollars, the project received financing through low-income housing tax credits allocated by Georgia Department of Community Affairs. The contractor for this project was McShane Construction.
The completion of Veranda at Assembly marks The Integral Group’s final involvement with this site after their earlier developments including Third Rail Studios,Serta Simmons Bedding Headquarters, and Asbury Automotive were successfully established there.
