Apartment Construction Booms in Texas Metros

Texas has taken a leadership position in apartment construction over the past three years. A recently released RentCafe survey revealed that Dallas, Austin, and Houston metros ranked in the top ten of most categories. For 2023, DFW is second only to NYC as the nation’s largest builder; if counting from last three years alone then Dallas is first with 76,660 units built. By end of 2023 an additional 23,659 apartments are expected to be delivered in DFW area.
Austin follows at number 3 with developers set to open 23,434 new rentals by year-end while Houston comes fourth with 53 741 units and Austin fourth 45 000 apartments constructed within 2020-2023 period respectively.
