The former Hickory Hollow Mall, once the largest retail center in Tennessee, has met its demise like many other malls across the country. The Metro purchased the 57-acre property for $44 million and plans to transform it into a mixed-use, walkable center and regional destination.
Currently known as Global Mall at the Crossings, this development will be divided into three “subdistricts” – Arts Village, Innovation Village, and Opportunity Village. These subdistricts will feature a variety of elements such as transit centers, mixed-use buildings with housing and ground-floor retail spaces, parking garages, hotels, and office/co-working spaces.
In addition to these amenities, the mall site will also include space for performing arts, museums or other civic uses,a trail loop around its perimeter, and various retail establishments including restaurants and art studios. With this multi-phase development plan in place, the future of Antioch’s mall conversion is taking shape towards becoming a vibrant community hub that offers diverse opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
