The former Hickory Hollow Mall, once the largest retail center in Tennessee, has met its demise like many other malls across the country. The Metro purchased the 57-acre property for $44 million and is now planning to transform it into a mixed-use, walkable center and regional destination.
Currently known as Global Mall at the Crossings, this site will feature three distinct “subdistricts” – Arts Village, Innovation Village, and Opportunity Village. These areas will include a variety of amenities such as a transit center; mixed-use buildings with housing and ground-floor retail; parking garage; hotel; office spaces with co-working options; performing arts venues or museums for civic use; retail stores, restaurants, and art studios. Additionally,a trail loop around the perimeter will provide outdoor recreational opportunities.
With four anchor buildings remaining on-site – occupied by Nashville State Community College,Southeast Community Center, and KIPP Nashville- Metro’s vision for this redevelopment project is well underway. Stay tuned for updates on Antioch’s exciting mall conversion!
