Chicago Mayor Appoints Ciere Boatright as New Director of Planning and Development
Mayor Brandon Johnson has selected Ciere Boatright, a real estate executive with expertise in community development, to lead the Department of Planning and Development. With strong ties to Chicago’s South Side, Boatright has a successful history of attracting investments to underdeveloped areas.
Previously serving at Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives and as Vice President at CRG, she brings valuable experience in leading projects on the South Side. Her appointment is pending City Council approval and will take effect on November 20th.
Boatright’s role will involve overseeing equitable economic growth and promoting neighborhood engagement within the city. She replaces former Commissioner Maurice Cox who was succeeded by interim administrator Patrick Murphey.
