"Amtrak Awards $300M Contract for Seattle Rail Yard Project"

Amtrak has chosen PCL Construction Services, Inc. to lead a major upgrade project for the King Street Yard in Seattle. The revamped yard will feature a state-of-the-art Maintenance and Inspection facility and Service and Cleaning bay, allowing for more efficient maintenance practices and accommodating the new Amtrak Airo trains.

The project also includes relocating existing facilities, improving utilities, and expanding storage space for train maintenance materials within the current footprint of the rail yard. Throughout this process, regular service will continue to operate as usual until its expected completion in 2027.

Located about one mile south of King Street Station near Seattle’s Stadium District, Amtrak’s King Street Coach Yard sees over 200 daily train movements. The total investment for this project is approximately $300 million with funding from IIJA (Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act).
