As Amazon.com Inc. employees return to the office, the company is signaling it could resume work on its downtown Bellevue developments to make room for the influx of workers, reported by Puget Sound Business Journal. The Seattle-based tech giant paused development on multiple towers in Bellevue last year, opting to finish work only on Tower 1 in its three-building West Main project and lower 19 floors of 42-story 555 Tower. In early May 2021, Amazon began seeking tenant improvement permits for upper 22 floors of 555 Tower with an aim to shift 2,000 employees from Seattle location once they open both projects at end of this year. However as per report by Business Journal there is no set date either for completion of remaining tenant improvement works or resuming construction elsewhere in Bellevue; instead they are lining up necessary permits just in case more space is required after returnees start coming back at least three days a week starting June 2021 onwards .
