According to a report by CNBC, Amazon has announced that all corporate employees must work in the office five days a week starting January 2, 2025. In a memo sent out on Monday, CEO Andy Jassy stated that this new policy will be strictly enforced and exceptions can only be granted by an organization’s S-team leader.
Jassy emphasized that before the pandemic, remote work was not guaranteed and moving forward it will still not be the norm. He expects employees to adhere to this new policy unless there are extenuating circumstances.
In order to maintain its strong corporate culture and remain agile, Jassy explained in his memo that these changes are necessary for Amazon. This announcement comes as many companies have shifted towards more flexible remote work policies due to the pandemic.
