Amazon has recently acquired two parcels of land in the Atlas Industrial Park, located at 2302 Commonwealth Avenue, from the Duluth Economic Development Authority (DEDA). The sale was made to Ryan Companies for $90,324 and then transferred to Amazon.com Services LLC. This purchase will be utilized for a new distribution center by Amazon. DEDA had originally purchased these lots and additional parcels totaling approximately 60 acres in 2004 from Universal Atlas Cement Division for $232,000.
The property is situated along Commonwealth Avenue on its west and north sides with Granite Works located across the street at 9830 Grand Avenue. According to Director of Planning and Economic Development Chad Ronchetti, this is a significant achievement for our community as it showcases Amazon’s investment in Western Duluth’s commercial tax base without any public incentives required. It is expected that this development on the Atlas site will pave way for more opportunities.
