Amazon is set to construct a distribution center spanning over 600,000 square feet in Rancho Cordova. The Sacramento Business Journal reported that the e-commerce giant recently closed escrow on 84 acres of land within the Rio Del Oro master plan. This site was approved for industrial use two years ago by the Rancho Cordova City Council after reviewing plans presented by Panattoni Development on behalf of Amazon.
An anonymous spokesperson for Amazon stated, “This project has been included in our operation plans and we are excited to move forward with construction starting in a few months.” More details will be shared as they become available.
Records show that Amazon paid $23.603 million for the undeveloped property which was previously owned by Alta Vista LLC, listed at Folsom-based Elliott Homes’ address -the master developer for Rio Del Oro- according to sources cited by the Business Journal . The total development costs are estimated at least $85 million.
