Amazon Launches Arlington HQ2 With 2 Million Square Feet of Office Space

Amazon has opened the first phase of its HQ2 in Arlington, Virginia: Metropolitan Park. This development features two 22-story office towers with a total of two million square feet of space, capable of accommodating 8,000 employees.

Metropolitan Park offers amenities such as a playground and green space for Amazon employees to enjoy as well as retail areas on the ground floor featuring minority- and women-owned small businesses. The area also provides meeting spaces for Amazon staff members along with a rooftop garden, bike racks and electric vehicle charging stations.

The office towers are powered by 100% renewable energy sources making it an environmentally friendly addition to Arlington’s skyline. The second phase – Penn Place – is currently on hold due to changes in remote work landscape but Amazon still plans to have 25,000 workers at HQ2 by 2030 if possible.
