Amazon has announced the re-opening of their application portal for the Housing Equity Fund. The company is encouraging potential real estate development partners to apply for funding in order to build or maintain affordable multi-family housing developments in three specific regions: Washington State’s Puget Sound area, Arlington and Washington D.C., and Nashville, Tennessee.
This announcement comes after Amazon’s recent commitment of an additional $1.4 billion towards creating or preserving 14,000 affordable homes across these three communities. With this new investment, Amazon has now committed a total of $3.6 billion under their Housing Equity Fund with the goal of providing 35,000 homes for low-to-moderate income families.
These funds will be used to support existing efforts in preserving affordable housing as well as constructing new developments that are accessible for those with lower incomes.
