"Amazon Chooses Not to Renew Downtown Seattle Office Lease"

Amazon has decided not to renew its lease for approximately 209,000 square feet of office space in downtown Seattle’s 1800 Ninth Tower, as reported by the Puget Sound Business Journal. The company has been occupying this building since 2013 and the current lease is set to expire in February of 2024.

In recent years, Amazon has put over 800,000 square feet of office space on the market in downtown Seattle. As a result, around 1,100 employees who are currently based at this location will be relocated to other offices within the local area. This move comes after Amazon chose not to renew its lease at West Eighth tower earlier this year.

Additionally, Amazon will also be relinquishing a South Lake Union lease for about19 ,000 square feet at507 Westlake Avenue N., which is expected to end next summer. Despite these changes in their real estate portfolio , Amazon recently opened new offices at Vulcan Real Estate’s555 Tower and many employees have already made the move from Seattle to Bellevue over recent years.
