# Allen Approves $1 Billion Kalahari Waterpark Resort

Kalahari Development has received tentative approval to build a large-scale waterpark resort in Allen, Texas. The project will include a 900-room hotel, an indoor and outdoor waterpark, a convention center, and a family entertainment center.

As part of the agreement, the city of Allen will lease 108 acres of land to Kalahari Resorts & Conventions for the first 20 years. In return, the developer will construct a convention center for the town.

The 123-acre development will be located at the southwest corner of State Highway 121 and Stacy Road. According to a feasibility study by Hotel & Leisure Advisors, the project is expected to create 1,000 jobs and generate more than $5 billion in economic impact within its first decade. Additionally, tax revenue for the City of Allen, the Allen Economic Development Corporation, and the Allen Community Development Corporation is projected to reach $390 million over the facility’s first 40 years.

The development will now move into the design and planning phase, which is estimated to take at least a year.
