"Alamo Drafthouse Plans to Increase Presence in Bay Area with Addition of Two Theaters"

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has officially announced their plans to take over two previously vacant Bay Area theatres that were formerly occupied by Showplace ICON. These new locations, Alamo Drafthouse Mountain View in Mountain View and Alamo Drafthouse Westfield Valley Fair in Santa Clara, will join the existing Alamo Drafthouse New Mission in San Francisco which opened its doors back in 2015. According to reports from the San Francisco Business Times, agreements were close to being finalized for these shuttered locations as early as August.

Each of these complexes will feature a total of 10 screens and are expected to open for guests by Summer 2025. The Austin-based cinema-eatery has big plans for these new additions including reclining leather seats, an updated culinary and bar experience, and immersive themes unique to each location.

CEO Michael Kusterman expressed his excitement about this expansion stating that “By 2025 we’ll have been serving the San Francisco community for a decade…this feels like the perfect way to celebrate our ten years of support from Bay Area film fans.” With this move, it’s clear that Alamo Drafthouse is committed not only providing top-notch entertainment experiences but also investing into their relationship with loyal customers who have supported them throughout their time in California.
