Affordable Housing Development in Washington Highlands Breaks Ground - 470 Units

Gilbane Development Company, in collaboration with MED Developers, Equity Plus Manager LLC and Housing Help Plus, has broken ground on Phase 1 of the Barnaby & 7th affordable housing development in Washington Highlands, Washington D.C. Located on a 6.3-acre site previously known as Belmont Crossing Apartments, the project will consist of 169 units designed to provide living spaces for low-income households earning 30% and 50% of Area Median Income (AMI).

Phase I will offer one-, two-, and three-bedroom units including permanent supportive housing along with access to social services located onsite. The development is conveniently situated near public transportation options featuring a public road and parking garage that are part of an overall three phase plan ultimately constructing 470 total units while preserving existing tenancies at the same time.
