The Durst Organization has opened a 100% affordable housing building in Astoria, Queens as part of a partnership with the Halletts Point development and public housing. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Douglas Durst, chairman of The Durst Organization said “New York City is facing a housing crisis. We need to build more homes”
Located at 3-24 27th Avenue, this new building sits adjacent to NYCHA’s Astoria Houses and features 163 apartments including units for NYCHA tenants formerly homeless households and locals from the surrounding community. Amenities include fitness room tenant lounge laundry room as well as improvements such as upgrades to heating plant public spaces and development of first full-service supermarket on peninsula. Rent ranges from $665/month for studios up to $1,601/month for two bedrooms providing much needed relief in NYC’s current market conditions .
