**AEW Capital Management Promotes Gina Szymanski to Global CIO of Securities Business**
Boston-based AEW Capital Management has announced the promotion of Gina Szymanski to Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of its Global Securities business. The division manages approximately $4 billion in real estate securities investments across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Szymanski previously served as Senior Portfolio Manager for AEW’s North American Securities platform, which accounts for more than 70% of AEW’s total global securities holdings. In her new role as Global CIO, she will oversee AEW’s global investment strategy across all regions.
“Gina’s in-depth knowledge of the global public real estate market and the meaningful impact of her work on our investment model have significantly contributed to the direction of our securities business since she joined the firm,” said JT Straub, AEW’s Head of Global Securities. “As she takes over as Global CIO, I know she will provide strong oversight to our longstanding investment process, which has been developed over the last 30 years.”
Szymanski holds the title of Managing Director at AEW. Before joining the firm, she spent over 15 years at Putnam Investments, where she served as the REIT Portfolio Manager for the firm’s Research Fund. She was also a senior member of the Global Equity Research team and part of the Quantitative Equity Research group.
