Tenet Healthcare, a company based in Dallas, has recently announced the sale of its 70% majority ownership stake in Brookwood Baptist Health, located in Birmingham, Alabama. The buyer is Orlando Health and the deal is estimated to be worth around $910 million paid entirely in cash.
The transaction includes five hospitals with a combined total of more than 1,700 beds. These hospitals are: Brookwood Baptist Medical Center (Birmingham), Princeton Baptist Medical Center (Birmingham), Walker Baptist Medical Center (Jasper), Shelby Baptist Medical Center (Alabaster) and Citizens Baptist Medical Center (Talladega). Additionally, affiliated physician practices and other related operations are also part of this proposed deal.
As part of the agreement between Tenet Healthcare and Orlando Health, Conifer Health Solutions – Tenet’s management arm – will continue to provide services for these Alabama hospitals and their related operations for a period of ten years.
