Ackerman to Expand Westside Trail Project

Ackerman & Co. has a proven track record of transforming old brick warehouses into thriving mixed-use developments. Along with MDH Partners, the company successfully developed the Lee + White project along Atlanta’s Westside Trail, which now boasts a variety of restaurants, breweries and office space. Recently, Ackerman acquired another vacant warehouse nearby for $24 million and plans to replicate its success.

The 12-acre site includes a 212,000-square-foot warehouse – half the size of Lee + White – and was purchased in 2021. According to reports from The Atlanta Business Chronicle , Ackerman has requested a meeting with city planners to discuss rezoning the property at 1200 White St., allowing for residential space within their proposed mixed-use development plan. This preliminary meeting will give them an opportunity to refine their plans before submitting an official rezoning application.

While it is uncertain if or when Ackerman will move forward with this project on the Westside Trail expansion area, they have already established themselves as leaders in commercial real estate development and management across various sectors such as office spaces, medical facilities retail centers, and mixed-used properties totaling over37 million square feet developedand currently managing4.5 million square feet .
