MassDevelopment has awarded $2.23 million in grants to support the rehabilitation of 22 properties across Massachusetts’ Gateway Cities. These grants are part of MassDevelopment’s Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) Equity Investment program, which focuses on commercial corridor revitalization goals. The funds will contribute to diverse projects such as modernizing a nail salon, expanding a café, opening a new restaurant, renovating waterfront property and creating food halls and commercial kitchens in Attleboro, Fall River Holyoke Lawrence Lynn New Bedford Pittsfield Springfield & Taunton. Additionally former theaters will be converted into incubators for food-based businesses with the grant money funded by the Barr Foundation that is aimed at transforming these Gateway Cities further.
