DC Housing Finance Agency Allocates $51M for Affordable Housing in DC

The District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency (DCHFA) has allocated $51.3 million to support an affordable senior housing project in Washington, D.C., providing much needed housing for seniors and “grandfamilies” – grandparents raising children. The investment includes $25.9 million in tax-exempt bonds, $21.4 million in federal low-income housing tax credit equity, and $4 million in District LIHTC equity towards the development named H.R Crawford Gardens located at 737 50th Street NE led by developers like Manna Corporation and Mutreja Developer .

This second of its kind project will offer 76 units with income limits ranging from 30 to 50 percent of the area median income including one to three bedrooms accessible units as well as permanent supportive housing units with amenities such as a green roof, community room and fitness center . This significant investment into affordable senior living is expected to provide much needed relief for those struggling within the district while also helping create a more vibrant community overall .
