“Boricua Tenants of Boston Win City Approval for New Community Center”

Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción (IBA) has been granted approval from the Boston Planning and Development Agency and Zoning Board of Appeal to construct its Center for the Arts, Self-Determination, and Activism (The CASA). The four-story building will be located at 85 West Newton Street in Boston, Massachusetts.

Designed with sustainability and accessibility in mind, The CASA is set to meet LEED Silver+ standards while complying with ADA regulations. It will feature a third-floor roof deck as well as classrooms, community spaces, offices & conference rooms. At its core lies a two-story performance space intended for community meetings & events that aim to reinvigorate IBA’s arts program & expand youth social/economic mobility programs.

Expected completion date is late 2024 at an estimated cost of $25 million which is being funded through public/private sources plus philanthropic donations towards reaching their total fundraising goal.
