The Chicago Bears have recently resumed discussions with the City of Chicago regarding the team’s future. In a letter to season-ticket holders, President Kevin Warren expressed optimism for a potential new indoor stadium complex in downtown Chicago. Although Arlington Heights and other municipalities remain under consideration, the current focus is on constructing a new stadium within city limits. Built in 1924, Soldier Field is one of the smallest stadiums in NFL history and has prompted talks about relocation from its current location.
In an effort to move away from Soldier Field, The Bears purchased Arlington International Racecourse for $197 million with plans to build an entertainment complex worth $5 billion that would include an indoor stadium; however taxes were raised substantially on this property which led them down another path – demolition of existing facilities .
