State of WA Selects Skanska for $834M I-405 Corridor Project

Skanska has been chosen by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to expand and make operational improvements to 4.5 miles of the I-405 corridor in Bothell, Washington. The contract is valued at $834 million for this project, referred to as the I-405 Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project.

This project will involve expanding a dual express toll lane system from south of the I-405/SR 522 interchange up until reaching its destination at the I-405/SR 527 interchange. It includes new lanes, direct access ramps, interchange improvements, infrastructure supporting Sound Transit’s Stride Bus Rapid Transit program and new fish passage culverts within its vicinity. AECOM will serve as lead designer alongside Skanska providing comprehensive design and engineering services that address traffic flow and express toll lane capacity needs for this endeavor which is expected begin construction late 2023 with completion slated for 2028 when it opens up to traffic again then.
