San Antonio’s iconic Gunter Hotel is set to undergo a complete revamp, courtesy of Axle Capital Group. The $30 million renovation project will see the hotel join Marriott Tribute’s line of boutique hotels and feature 314 rooms upon completion in November 2024. In addition to interior and exterior redo, historic tax credits are being utilized as part of the financing structure for this ambitious undertaking.
The Gunter Hotel has been a fixture since 1909 and has seen some legendary musicians grace its stage – from Robert Johnson to John Mellencamp – so it comes as no surprise that Axle Capital Group is considering installing a recording studio for artists and podcasters alike. This move would ensure that San Antonio’s rich musical heritage continues long into the future!
