Illinois Governor JB Pritzker recently announced a $1.35 million federal grant to support tradeswomen-led efforts to train and encourage more women into infrastructure and construction careers. Lendlease, a global property and infrastructure group, applauded the initiative as an opportunity for greater diversity in traditionally male-dominated construction roles while also addressing looming labor shortages. Michael Meagher, President of McHugh Construction added that his company is part of HIRE 360 – a nonprofit organization connecting minorities and women with careers in the trades – so they are thrilled this grant will bring even more resources to help women enter these fields. McHugh Construction also teams with minority-and woman-owned businesses to promote their development within the industry as well.
