On Friday, Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH) broke ground on Riggs Crossing Senior Residences, a new senior affordable housing development in Ward 4 of the District of Columbia. This project marks APAH’s first community in DC and is part of its regional expansion.
When completed, this 93-apartment complex will provide independent living to adults aged 62 and older located blocks away from retail stores and the Fort Totten Metrorail Station. The community will include 52 apartments for residents with incomes at or below 30% Median Family Income (MFI), as well as 41 apartments for those at or below 50% MFI.
Riggs Crossing was created through a partnership between APAH and EYA LLC – developer of the adjacent Riggs Park Place townhome community – aiming to meet an increasing need for affordable homes across regions while providing supportive programming that empowers residents. “The regional need for affordable homes is only growing,” said APAH President & CEO Carmen Romero.”Our goal is to create more homes that provide these services.”
