Ross Perot’s EDS was a pioneering force in the early days of the tech boom. Founded in 1962, it was eventually acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2008. Its Plano headquarters opened its doors in 1992 and has remained vacant since 2018. Since then, NexPoint – the new owner – has been exploring ways to redevelop this 1.6 million square foot office complex into something new and exciting for Texas residents and businesses alike.
Earlier this year, NexPoint unveiled plans to convert these vacant buildings into a $3 billion life sciences campus called “Texas Research Quarters”. According to The Dallas Business Journal, this main campus will feature laboratory space; office space; therapeutic production facilities; an expansive community park with educational facilities nearby; as well as a small hotel with conference spaces and limited mid-rise residential units designed primarily for employees living within quarters’ vicinity.
