Mini-Golf in Austin: Holey-Moley Opens New Concept

Iconic Austin entertainment venue Native is being replaced by a Holey Moley mini-golf course, the invention of Australia-based Funlab. Owned by private equity firm TPG Capital, Funlab has more than 40 locations in Australia and New Zealand across eight entertainment brands. The 27-hole Holey Moley course is expected to open in November and will feature food, drinks, event space and “super-vibey” multi sensory experiences. A state filing indicates renovation costs for the 15400 square feet site at 807 E Fourth St will be $900000 USD.

Mini golf continues to draw crowds in Austin with established venues such as Peter Pan Mini Golf on South Lamar Boulevard which has been operating for 75 years alongside newcomers Dreamland (Dripping Springs), Memorial Miniature Golf & WWII Museum (Buda) and Centex Mini Golf (Georgetown). In addition to its planned opening in Austin this November, Funlab also plans mini golf courses for Denver and San Francisco later this year or early 2021.
