Bic Relocating North American Headquarters to Norwalk’s Merritt 7 Office Park

Bic Inks Plan to Move Offices from Shelton to Norwalk
CRE Market Beat Take
Relocating a 200-person North American HQ into Merritt 7 underscores that well-located suburban office campuses can still capture meaningful credit tenancy, supporting leasing durability in select submarkets.

Bic plans to move its U.S. corporate offices within Connecticut, shifting its North American headquarters from Shelton to Norwalk. The global manufacturer of ballpoint pens and disposable razors will relocate approximately 20 miles southwest to the Merritt 7 office park, remaining in the same broader region while changing corporate addresses.

The company currently operates from 1 BIC Way in Shelton. Under the new plan, Bic will lease a 32,000-square-foot office in the 501 building at Merritt 7 in Norwalk. Once the relocation is complete, the Norwalk space will function as the company’s North American headquarters, consolidating key corporate functions into a single office setting within the campus.

Bic expects the new headquarters location to be operational in the second quarter of 2027. The Norwalk office is slated to house about 200 full-time employees. Teams based there will span a range of business functions, including sales, marketing, and supply chain, indicating that core customer-facing and operational roles will be anchored at the Merritt 7 address.

The company emphasized that the move is limited to its North America corporate office and does not affect its manufacturing footprint in the state. Bic’s lighter manufacturing plant in Milford, CT will continue to operate as before, with no changes announced in connection with the headquarters relocation.

While committing to the new lease in Norwalk, Bic is still weighing its options for the existing Shelton property at 1 BIC Way. The company has not yet disclosed whether it plans to sell, re-lease, repurpose, or retain that facility once the headquarters functions transfer to Merritt 7.

In a prepared statement, Bic described the headquarters move as a response to the changing needs of the organization and its employees. The company said the relocation of its corporate office reflects the evolving requirements of a global business and the way its teams work today.

Bic also underlined its long-standing relationship with Connecticut. With a presence in the state dating back to 1958, the company noted that it is pleased to remain in the area and continue contributing to the broader region even as it changes specific office locations. By maintaining both a corporate headquarters and a manufacturing plant in Connecticut, Bic signaled continued engagement with the local workforce and business community.

Details such as lease term, rental rate, and the future strategy for the Shelton property were not disclosed. However, the decision marks a notable corporate relocation within Connecticut’s office market, moving a 200-person headquarters operation into a multi-building office park setting in Norwalk.
