AT&T has outlined the construction schedule for its planned headquarters campus in Plano, with site work slated to begin in December. The telecom giant is moving forward with a $1.3 billion development that will deliver a large-scale corporate hub composed of multiple office buildings and extensive structured parking.
The campus is planned to include a series of office buildings ranging from approximately 225,000 square feet to 680,000 square feet. In total, the project is expected to deliver more than 2.3 million square feet of office space. In addition to the office component, plans call for over 2.5 million square feet dedicated to parking garages, underscoring the project's scale and anticipated daily population.
Construction on the headquarters complex is expected to extend over several years, with activity projected to continue through 2029. Developer KDC is leading the project, overseeing the transformation of the site into AT&T's future base of operations in the region. The multi-building configuration is designed to accommodate a large employment base and long-term corporate growth.
The city has approved a $20 million economic incentive package to support the headquarters development. Under the agreement, AT&T will be required to meet specified employment benchmarks in order to receive the full value of the incentive. The company's long-term plan calls for the facility to bring 10,000 jobs to the region by 2039, tying the public support directly to job creation and occupancy over time.
The future headquarters will rise on the former Electronic Data Systems campus site, long associated with Ross Perot. Demolition work on the legacy EDS structures is still in progress across the 54-acre tract at Legacy Drive and Parkwood Boulevard. Clearing the former campus is a key step toward preparing the land for the new AT&T build-out.
As demolition continues and construction moves toward a December start, the project represents one of the largest single-user office developments underway in Plano. The combination of substantial office square footage, extensive parking infrastructure, and a multi-year construction timeline positions the site as a long-term employment and corporate real estate anchor for the area, contingent on AT&T meeting its hiring and occupancy commitments.
