The Davis Companies has created a new leadership role and named industry veteran Melissa Schrock as managing director of mixed-use development. In this position, Schrock is tasked with overseeing the firm’s expanding portfolio of mixed-use properties across the United States, with responsibilities that span acquisition, entitlement, and ground-up development activities.
According to the company, the role is designed to support Davis’ growing involvement in mixed-use projects and to provide dedicated leadership over the full life cycle of these developments. Schrock’s mandate includes helping to guide projects from initial site identification and investment decisions through the entitlement process and on to construction and delivery.
Schrock highlighted Davis’ track record working through complex development scenarios and engaging a broad group of stakeholders. She noted that Davis has experience collaborating with tenants, partners, community stakeholders, and public constituencies on projects that aim to strengthen the long-term health of the areas where the firm is active. She added that she looks forward to leveraging that experience to help move forward projects that contribute to the long-term vitality of the places in which the company works.
Before joining Davis, Schrock served as executive vice president of mixed-use development at HRP Group. In that role, she led HRP’s expansion into the urban mixed-use sector and supported a pipeline totaling five million square feet of mixed-use and life science innovation projects across the country. Her work at HRP included involvement in 776 Summer in Boston, a 19-acre site along the Potomac River in Alexandria, Virginia, and the Innovation Campus at the Bellwether District in Philadelphia.
Earlier in her career, Schrock was vice president of development at BXP, where she gained additional experience in planning and executing development projects. She also held the position of development manager at Samuels & Associates. Her move to Davis brings this background in mixed-use, life science, and large-scale urban projects to a newly established leadership position focused specifically on the firm’s mixed-use development strategy.
