Haynes, a construction management firm with operations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, has been engaged to oversee a multi-level renovation of Hotel 1620, a boutique waterfront property in historic Plymouth, MA. The hotel is operated by Linchris and is part of the company’s Independent Collection of Hotels.
The renovation program is scheduled to begin in early November and will focus on both public areas and key guest-facing spaces. Plans call for a complete rework of the main lobby and reception area, along with the creation of an adjoining work lounge designed to give guests additional space to conduct business or relax. The scope also includes a new micro market, a refreshed pub, an updated pre-function corridor and newly built public restrooms.
On the first floor, Haynes will direct improvements to several amenity zones. The indoor pool cabana is set for renovation, as is an event room that serves group and meeting business. The adjacent fitness corridor will also be upgraded, and additional public restrooms on this level are included in the project brief. These changes are intended to modernize the hotel’s common areas while maintaining functionality for both leisure and group travelers.
Beyond the ground floor, work will extend to the upper levels of the property. Haynes’ scope encompasses renovations to the elevator lobbies on the third and fourth floors, targeting the circulation spaces that connect guests to their rooms and other amenities. The improvements are structured as a multi-level effort rather than a single-phase refresh of the lobby alone.
The design is being led by Corgan, a Texas-based architectural firm, working in collaboration with owner Linchris Hotel Corporation. According to Haynes, the design concept introduces a coastal New England aesthetic intended to align with the hotel’s harborside setting in Plymouth. The renovated interiors are expected to reflect the surrounding waterfront environment while remaining consistent with the Independent Collection’s boutique positioning.
Hotel 1620’s renovation underscores an ongoing focus on repositioning existing hospitality assets through targeted capital improvements, with Haynes, Corgan and Linchris each assuming defined roles in the planning and execution of the project.
