Chicago has been selected to host the 2024 Democratic National Convention, announced by the Democratic National Committee on Tuesday. The city was chosen over New York City and Atlanta for the August 19-22 event, which is expected to draw up to 7,000 delegates and alternates as well as 50,000 visitors.
The United Center will be used for evening events during this convention; it also served as the main site of the 1996 Democratic convention. The daytime business will take place at McCormick Place according to a source from ABC News.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said in a statement: “The 2024 Democratic National Convention in will welcome people from across our nation with an unforgettable event.” He went on to say that “Our great global city and its diverse communities show off America’s best hospitality while representing our country’s heart.” Milwaukee is set to host Republican Party’s 2024 convention nearby
