Liberty Center in Liberty Township, Ohio, is moving into a new phase of its evolution with more than $20 million in completed, ongoing, and planned investments across its 64-acre mixed-use campus. The spending is aimed at positioning the property for its next stage of growth and includes plans for additional hotel and residential components to complement the existing retail, dining, entertainment, and community spaces already on site.
The property is owned by Apollo, with real estate firm Centennial, powered by Lincoln, serving as asset manager. Centennial is responsible for setting the strategic direction for Liberty Center and executing the current slate of initiatives, which span multiple parts of the campus. The work underway and in the pipeline includes major upgrades for tenants, new entertainment offerings not previously available in the market, and longer-term projects that are intended to support the future build-out of the property.
As part of the current planning, the team is envisioning approximately 300 apartment units at Liberty Center. The residential component is expected to be integrated into the larger mixed-use environment, reinforcing the property’s position as a live-work-play destination in Liberty Township. In addition, plans call for a full-service hotel that would broaden the property’s hospitality offering and support both visitors and the surrounding community.
The contemplated hotel and multifamily uses are designed to build on Liberty Center’s existing foundation of shopping, dining, and entertainment, with an emphasis on enhancing the overall experience for customers and residents. The new investments also include first-to-market entertainment concepts, which are expected to diversify the property’s draw and strengthen its competitive standing in the regional retail and mixed-use landscape.
Jonathan Maher, senior vice president of asset management for Centennial, said the current round of capital deployment is focused on long-term value creation for the owner while elevating the day-to-day experience for visitors. He noted that the collective initiatives at Liberty Center are intended to reinforce the property’s market position and create sustainable value through a combination of physical improvements, new concepts, and the introduction of future residential and hotel offerings.
While specific development timelines, construction milestones, and delivery dates have not been disclosed, the scale of planned residential and hospitality additions underscores the owner’s and asset manager’s commitment to further expanding Liberty Center as a regional mixed-use destination.
